Opportunities within online communities

Business start-up for online communitiesWebsites like eBay and Craiglist are brilliant for locating something you’re searching for, but can feel a little anonymous in their format.

 

There’s a new site based in New York called Krrb, which is presented in much the same way as the aforementioned sites but organises its online community around physical cities and neighbourhoods, allowing you to trade, sell and swap items locally and in person.

 

Even though payment transactions take place offline, Krrb brings the parties together, essentially acting as a middleman.

 

The site states: “Krrb puts you at the centre of your stomping grounds and displays all that you and your neighbours have to offer.”

 

Not only does this help set the site apart, it also creates a sense a community and could even help people get to know their neighbours a bit better.

 

The site also allows its users to track the offerings in multiple cities at the same time, so you’re only limited to your own locality if you choose to be.

 

Krrb also proves that even in well-established online business models, there’s still room for innovation.
