Our family wanted to get some extra income to help charities like Breast Cancer Foundation and Kids with Cancer. Getting into Beauty products presented an opportunity. We were able aquire agency for Reniu by Pure Fiji and Shahnaz Husain. But its tough out there. We need more lines of beauty products but finding it hard to get any more known Brands.

Discipline is something you really need when you work at home. You have to treat it as if you worked from an office. You wouldn't be able to pop in and put a load of washing on if you were at the office so you have to really define work and life. I usually set hours for myself and try and stick to that. I am also lucky that I have a separate room as an office so I can close the door on it (and turn the volume down on the PC so I dont hear the dings of new emails!). The other challenge of working from home is the mindset of your family and friends. When I firstly started working from home, my parents used to call in for a coffee or lunch because I was home. I love the one minute commute to work though!

Right from the start I had a separate office with the belief that my home was my home and the office was for work. That was 18 years ago with a young family. Over the past 3 to 4 years I have scaled down our main business, built a purpose office on at home. 12 months ago we moved the business/office home. There are advantages like no rent, less travelling, flexability to catch up on some of the home jobs and working in your local community. The negatives are learning to switch off, (I find I am working later), staff at your home and or restrictions on inhouse staffing. Overall it's been a good move and part of my strategy towards being Free, which is why I started a business. I must be a slow learner as it's taken 18 years to start making the changes.
