I now have this unit in an eBay ad. You can see it here: http://bit.ly/yCtqlR
A few recommendations.
The first is that the ability to "print" a PDF file in all Apple Macs running OS-X. Basically, you select Print from the File menu as you would if you were printing a document on paper on a real printer. There should be an option in there to save as PDF. Details here: http://osxdaily.com/2010/05/21/how-to-print-to-pdf-in-mac-os/ So if you run on Macintosh you don't necessarily need any additional software, and if you're looking to upgrade computers soon, depending on what other software you use, if the difference is less than $400, have a look at getting a Mac.
Assuming you run Windows, CutePDF and also PDFCreator ( http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator ) provide similar functionality to the "Print to PDF" option on Macs, and they're freeware. Better yet, PDFCreator is open source too!
Hi Russell
I would be really interested in master entrepreneur. Do you require a business idea beforehand?
How are teams formed? Have you secured your business mentors yet?
Cheers
Helen
Darren,
After building several online businesses, the following parameters should provide you with a high level guide. Research your keyword terms to determine your target keywords, and their associated traffic volumes. Pick 5-10 keywords initially. Aim to achieve about 5% of total keyword traffic. Allow at least 6 months to achieve this goal, supported by appropriate SEO. You could work on achieving approximately $10-20 per 1000 visits in advertising revenue.
I would have to say anything else from Deals Direct. My wife has purchased many items through them and anything electronic barely made the 3 month mark. We have 7 kids and went through a stage where many presents were purchased from them and all either didn't work upon arrival or broke/died within a very short period of time.
I agree with Carl too, anything that is a personal fit I wouldn't buy online or anything that makes up an essential part of an outfit. We had a birthday party recently which was a Prince/Princess theme and my wife found the perfect broach for my eldest daughters dress on ebay. She purchased it about 3 weeks before the party and it ended up turning up about a week and a half after the party. In this instance she would have been better off going to the shops and buying from there. Especially when the item was listed as being from Brisbane but when it turned up had come from Singapore -which explained the delay in getting it- and if she had know that it was coming from overseas, she would have looked locally.
The group now has 4 cents... :-)
Hi Brendan,
I use the iPad in a similar way to Sam - presentations, less weight and paper. Our website has a video on it that explains what we do very quickly and clearly. Unfortunately that can sometimes take a while to load in a 3G environment (bring on the NBN) so being able to load it into the videos section is very helpful.
The "wow" factor definitely helps with engagement, though this wont last forever..
From a business point of view though it's not a necessity for me.
Best,
Patrick
Hi Simon, I am a little with Brian here - this is an issue you need to get sorted out and quick. I knwo the business is born on the web, but is that also where you do most of your selling? If so, the co-director's sales skills probably aren't going to be off much value...
Alternatively, you could put him in charge of your online communications strategy and get some of that offline communications magic working online? He could handle the Twitter and Facebook stuff, write copy and fresh content to help with your SEO efforts, write news to submit to industry sites etc. And along the way, he'll probably learn lots!
Thanks for your input everyone. Amanda, my iphone has a voice recording ability but I have never used it, thanks for the tip.
Hi Brendan these guys have some good stuff...I haven't used it but looks ok.: http://www.projoom.com/

Curious why you chose Joomla over Wordpress...

Hi Lloyd,
thanks for the feedback. We are currently gauging which groups to have in the community. Your suggestion for a recruitment/staffing group is duly noted.
If you, or anyone else, has any further suggestions, we have set up a Feedback group specifically for this purpose.
Cheers, Ollie

It would be great to have a "Staffing Startups" group (or subgroup). I'm having trouble getting IT developer resources:
> Recruitment firms: I don't think they understand how much their fee adds to a daily rate when IT developers' typical stay at a company is either 6 months or 15 months (don't ask me why - just look at the resumes).
> Contractors: can be helpful, but aren't part of a core team (for long term commitment and growth).
> Do it yourself on Seek, Facebook: Not producing results.
We know that when you get a reputation for being cool (e.g. Atlassian) then people will come to you. Our current and potential clients say that our product is great but we need more people.
A community on this subject could be a great help.

Joining this group as I'm also involved in commercialising my electric wheelchair design that uses new technology motors, batteries, and our own designed BLDC 4Qmotor controller - all higher tech than currently used in most wheelchairs.

I'm looking forward to joining this group. Probably because it's the very first group that I've ever joined online. So I hope I don't make a dick of myself. lol
