In a rapidly changing world, some management theorists say the ideal of building a business for the long term has eroded like a sandcastle at high tide. But should you really focus just on the short term when building your business?
In theory, every job search is a search for the best possible candidate. In practice, thousands of job applicants get knocked back each year on the grounds they’re “overqualified”.
The end of the financial year is an opportune time to think about the big picture of your business. Here are four questions that can help ensure the next year is your most successful one yet.
I run a SharePoint / Office 365 company in Sydney. These tools are used for running corporate intranets, collaboration, information management...but usually companies don't use them well.
thanks for the feedback. We are currently gauging which groups to have in the community. Your suggestion for a recruitment/staffing group is duly noted.
If you, or anyone else, has any further suggestions, we have set up a Feedback group specifically for this purpose.
It would be great to have a "Staffing Startups" group (or subgroup). I'm having trouble getting IT developer resources: > Recruitment firms: I don't think they understand how much their fee adds to a daily rate when IT developers' typical stay at a company is either 6 months or 15 months (don't ask me why - just look at the resumes). > Contractors: can be helpful, but aren't part of a core team (for long term commitment and growth). > Do it yourself on Seek, Facebook: Not producing results. We know that when you get a reputation for being cool (e.g. Atlassian) then people will come to you. Our current and potential clients say that our product is great but we need more people. A community on this subject could be a great help.
Joining this group as I'm also involved in commercialising my electric wheelchair design that uses new technology motors, batteries, and our own designed BLDC 4Qmotor controller - all higher tech than currently used in most wheelchairs.
I'm looking forward to joining this group. Probably because it's the very first group that I've ever joined online. So I hope I don't make a dick of myself. lol
