He has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science from the University of Tasmania and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from RMIT University.

Ryan Trainor has a strong history of entrepreneurship, primarily focused on education. He is founder of Republica Education, a group of colleges focused on fuelling the creative economy and challenging traditional education models. Republica Colleges include Tractor Design School, Beauty EDU, BSchool, Mercer School of Interior Design & CG Spectrum. He is also the founder of Crosby & Prince Ventures, a boutique private equity investor in a range of companies. He launched his first business at 23, which sold to a multinational, and his next business also sold to an ASX listed company. He launched Franklyn Scholar in 2008, which later sold to Kaplan (part of the Washington Post).
