The Durkin opening: How startups can avoid making the wrong first move (slide deck)

The Durkin opening in chess is an awkward first move. It develops the queen’s knight too early and poorly. And as a result loses the momentum of White’s advantage of the first move.


It was also the title of a guest lecture I did last week for the engineering students at Sydney University taking the Technology Venture Creation class.
