Six3 – Smartphone App Sends Video Messages: Start-up Idea

Smartphone app sends video messages

start-up-idea-six3-3A new smartphone app will allow users to send video messages as easily as sending a text.

London-based company Six3 has combined the convenience of texting with the intimacy of video so that people can communicate “in an emotionally meaningful way”.

According to Six3 co-founder Tim Grimsditch, it will be easier to send a video message than a text because you will not need to look down and tap away at tiny buttons.

“You just talk straight into the camera,” Grimsditch says.

On its website, Six3 says it is frustrated by the current video communication services on offer.

“We love Skype calls, but they’re a hassle to organise and they rarely work well on mobile,” it says.

“We’ve all emailed videos, but the recipients have to download huge files, and they have to switch between email and video player, and video recorder applications to reply.”

“Finally, there’s YouTube, a great way to share video, but only if you want the entire world to see it. So we decided to design the easiest way possible to privately create, send, view and reply to video messages.”

Video communication technologies continue to take off, so perhaps there’s an opportunity to develop something similar.
