Local councils aren’t always an obvious place to look for funding, but many are becoming increasingly supportive of the start-up scene, launching grants aimed at early stage ventures.

Today, Alexandra Cain takes a look at the grants on offer from several local councils, and how recipients utilise the funds they receive.

Cain also outlines how you can increase your chances of securing such a grant, offering up some key tips.

Elsewhere, Dean Ramler explains how to maximise your sales at Christmas, and two Melbourne entrepreneurs explain how a buck’s night rant led to a solid start-up idea.
