These days with so many businesses fighting for attention on the internet, good design is more important than ever for your startup (Think Pinterest and Instagram). Before you start coding and for the advanced few thinking about your business model, you need to get your website design looking top notch. Whether you are a creative genius or a straight up buss dev hacker this class will provide you with an overview of the basics of website design so you can successfully complete the task of creating a beautiful looking website that pops out of the browser.
The class will cover a terminology overview, a run down of the processes involved in creating a website design: from wire frames to CSS and top tips and tools you should use and look out for. The class is designed for those with no specific design qualifications, but want to better understand the process of website design so they can go on to learn the process in detail or work better with their contracted or in-house designer.
The class is being taught by long time web design professional Gerry Scullion, Creative Director at Electric HQ. Gerry is a creative thinker with a passion for creating the big idea with the perfect solution. Having worked both as a web designer and developer for TBWA/Tequila, Gerry has a deep understanding of what constitutes as great website design - with a heavy focus on goal or task driven websites. As the former Head of Creative (Design & Development) for Fox Interactive Media (myspace.com and IGN.com) Gerry went on to co-found ElectricHQ.com.au, an independent web design and development agency based in Sydney that specialise in Wordpress and Drupal solutions, as well as Facebook Applications. He has over 8 years professional experience and has been involved in either the web development//design process for many of the worlds leading brands and businesses e.g. Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Fairfax, eBay, Sanyo, L’Oreal, Carlton, to name but a few.
