Eco-friendly advice drives start-ups

Business start-up for green drivingWith global warming an increasingly hot topic, most of us have attempted to go green in some way or another, however small or unnoticed.

For example, more people are opting for alternative methods of transport, leaving their cars at home and instead taking their bike or the train.

Those still wedded to their cars have a new innovation to help minimise environmental damage – if they drive a Fiat, that is.

The eco:Drive is a computer application that will help improve how efficiently you drive. It analyses your driving style and helps you to use less fuel, reducing your CO2 emissions and saving you money.

The software evaluates the user’s driving style and gives a mark out of 100. Online tutorials subsequently encourage drivers to improve their score, and ultimately reduce their carbon emissions.

This kind of ‘green rating’ device has possibilities beyond the car industry. A smart start-up could apply similar technology to other industries to help companies keep a track of their emissions and cut unnecessary, and costly, waste.
