Winners of the 2013 iAwards, now open for entries, will have the opportunity to compete with businesses from across the Asia-Pacific at the 2013 Asia Pacific ICT Awards in Hong Kong.

The iAwards, which recognise the achievements and contributions of the Australian ICT industry, are hosted by the Australian Computer Society, the Australian Information Industry Association and the Pearcey Foundation.

The call for entries is now open for the 2013 iAwards. Anyone who has created an innovative ICT product or service is being encouraged to enter.

Alternatively, if you know an outstanding ICT innovator, you can nominate them for an individual achievement award. Entries close March 15.

Some of the categories for this year’s awards have been changed to reflect the “shifting landscape that is the Australian ICT community”.

The result is a new-look awards program across seven domains, recognising individual achievement, product innovation, project excellence and entrepreneurial spirit.

The seven domains are development domain, industry domain, service domain, society domain, student domain, professional domain and pioneer domain.

The pioneer domain includes a start-up award, an inspiration award and an entrepreneur award. Previous winners and honourees of the start-up award include 99dresses and rome2rio.

Winners of this year’s awards will have the opportunity to compete with businesses from across the Asia-Pacific region at the 2013 Asia Pacific ICT Awards in Hong Kong.

“We’re keen to see the latest ICT products and services… which demonstrate true innovation,” says Wayne Fitzsimmons, chairman of the Pearcey Foundation.

“We’ve worked hard to ensure that the 2013 iAwards program has evolved in the same way as the ever-changing ICT industry so that the new frontiers… are included and celebrated.

“ICT is everywhere, and we are looking forward to seeing the next wave of innovations and future thinking at this year’s iAwards.”

A company called Integral, which won an iAward in 2012, went on to win an award at APICTA.

“Integral is delighted to have won the 2012 iAward for Sustainability & IT and to have then gone on to win the APICTA award for Green and Sustainable IT,” managing director Cameron Tuesley said in a statement.

“To be recognised by such highly esteemed awards programs... is a great validation of the effort, passion and innovation that went in to making this program such a success.”
