{"id":32069,"date":"2023-10-20T14:26:56","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/game-on-google-launches-youtube-twitch-competitor-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T14:26:56","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:26:56","slug":"game-on-google-launches-youtube-twitch-competitor-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/game-on-google-launches-youtube-twitch-competitor-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Game on: Google launches YouTube Twitch competitor &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/l_gaming_445.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_gaming_445\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Nearly a year ago to the day after failing to buy gamer platform Twitch, YouTube will be launching its own stand-alone video site focusing on the live-streaming of games. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year Google reportedly tried to acquire live-streaming platform Twitch but eventually lost out to Amazon, as <i>Ars Technica<\/i> reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It announced in June that it would instead build its own service from scratch, and now YouTube Gaming will launch on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The platform lets users broadcast their gameplay live to viewers, and also includes 25,000 landing pages for games, a new design and different search function tailored to gamers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It marks the first time Twitch has had any real competition in this field, and with many Twitch users already uploading their streams to YouTube. Google\u2019s new site could become a one-stop shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also another move for Google in its attempts to dominate the live-streaming market, with a beta version of a new dashboard also being rolled out that moves away from formal, scheduled streams.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>Raising your <\/i><a href=\"startupschool\/events\/hacking-your-first-investment-round\/\"><i>first round of capital<\/i><\/a><i>?
