{"id":32635,"date":"2023-10-20T14:28:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/creative-start-ups-heres-your-chance-to-pitch-to-40-potential-investors-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T14:28:35","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:28:35","slug":"creative-start-ups-heres-your-chance-to-pitch-to-40-potential-investors-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/creative-start-ups-heres-your-chance-to-pitch-to-40-potential-investors-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Creative start-ups: Here\u2019s your chance to pitch to 40 potential investors &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/l_river-pitch-445.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_river-pitch-445\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Five start-ups will have the opportunity to pitch to 40 qualified investors in a new event called Creative<sup>3 <\/sup>RiverPitch in Brisbane on September 11.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Queensland co-working space and start-up incubator River City Labs has partnered with Queensland University of Technology\u2019s Creative Enterprise Australia (QUT CEA) to run the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anna Rooke, chief executive of QUT CEA, says in a statement the event is designed to meet the specific funding challenges of the creative industries.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal was to create an event that would help prepare creative businesses for investment,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>River City Labs has run six River Pitch events before. This is the first time they\u2019ve partnered with QUT CEA, with the event to be part of the two-day Creative<sup>3 <\/sup>conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peta Ellis, the operational manager at River City Labs, told <i>StartupSmart<\/i> the partnership will bring together their tech-start up community with QUT CEA\u2019s creative industries start-ups.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The top 10 applications [<a href=\"http:\/\/riverpitch.com\/pitch-to-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/riverpitch.com\/pitch-to-us\/<\/a>] will audition for pitching night, with the highest performing five going through to pitch in front of pre-screened investors.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe make sure they\u2019re actually investors, not just observers. We want to know the room is filled with people who are genuinely interested in new opportunities,\u201d says Ellis.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe networking is just as important as the pitch, because even if you\u2019re not investment ready or your idea isn\u2019t quite right for these guys, they may know someone else who might love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ellis says the start-ups most likely to succeed will be creative but proven.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for someone with a proven business concept, with customers and clients.
