The Small Business Minister Brendan O\u2019Connor<\/a> has apologised after a Twitter gaffe where he described volunteer firefighting by the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, as \u201cf***ing up\u201d and a \u201cstunt\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/span> <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n O\u2019Connor retweeted a tweet Abbott sent on Tuesday about the fires \u2013 ”I’m now on my way to Sydney to be on standby with my local fire brigade” \u2013 and added the hashtag ”#standbystunt”.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n He also retweeted tweets from his followers including \u201cAbbott has F**ED UP badly with his latest stunt\u2026 most will see it as pure self-promotion\u201d and \u201cAbbott on bike, Abbott on horse, Abbott on beach, Abbott in fire-truck. What\u2019s next? @ABCmarkscott Abbott sitting at desk developing policies?\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n But O’Connor quickly deleted the tweets and apologised: ”Apologies for any offence. I respect and acknowledge the critical work of all our volunteer firefighters including Tony Abbott.”<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n O\u2019Connor who uses the Twitter account @BOConnorMP has over 2,000 followers on Twitter and is a fairly enthusiastic user of the micro-blogging service, having tweeted over 700 times.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Small Business Minister\u2019s office told SmartCompany<\/em> he was unavailable for comment.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
