{"id":36620,"date":"2023-10-20T14:45:14","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/swift-action-attracts-investors-ahead-of-deal-announcement-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T14:45:14","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:45:14","slug":"swift-action-attracts-investors-ahead-of-deal-announcement-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/swift-action-attracts-investors-ahead-of-deal-announcement-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Swift action attracts investors ahead of deal announcement &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/l_swift_445.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_swift_445\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Australian logistics platform <a href=\"#home\">startup Swift<\/a> has closed a $US675,000 angel round to accelerate product development in the Asia-Pacific region and continue its expansion in the US. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The startup offers delivery management software for businesses, allowing them to organise their deliveries, automate task assignments and track goods in real time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The investment round was led by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blacksheepcapital.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BlackSheep Capital<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluechilli.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BlueChilli<\/a> Venture Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluechilli.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BlueChilli<\/a> CEO Sebastian Eckersley-Maslin says it was Swift CEO and co-founder Joel Macdonald\u2019s proactive approach that made him so appealing from an investor\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thing I really like is that Joel has really kicked arse at pushing the boundaries of his business, having the courage to move to New York to chase (and close) a massive deal in the US and to identify emerging opportunities with his SaaS platform for deliveries,\u201d Sebastian Eckersley-Maslin says.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Swift has come a long way after starting as a beer delivery service on scooters in Melbourne\u2019s eastern suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The startup relocated to the US, and recently signed a \u201cmulti-million dollar deal\u201d with one of America\u2019s largest e-commerce retailers earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Swift hasn\u2019t revealed who this is yet, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com.au\/this-aussie-has-packed-up-and-headed-for-nyc-to-chase-his-startup-dream-2015-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Business Insider<\/i> understands<\/a> it to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instacart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instacart.<\/a> That would certainly qualify as massive, Instacart\u2019s revenue for 2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/recode.net\/2014\/12\/30\/grocery-delivery-startup-instacart-scores-220-million-investment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was north of $US100 million<\/a>, 10 times its 2013 revenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Macdonald says he\u2019s excited to have closed the seed round.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are absolutely thrilled to have the backing of the biggest early stage venture funds in the country,\u201d Macdonald says.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe it no longer makes economic sense for companies to build their own delivery management software or courier apps when they can use Swift for a small monthly fee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see our product as the future of urban logistics and invite any business who delivers to come speak to us to see how we can make their life and their customers\u2019 lives easier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i> <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Raising your <\/i><a href=\"startupschool\/events\/hacking-your-first-investment-round\/\"><i>first round of capital<\/i><\/a><i>?
