I can\u2019t see any immediate evidence of this and want to be close to other companies. What things should I be checking to tell whether an area will become popular with businesses or not?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  <span id=\"more-1316\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The key issues to consider when identifying if an area is \u2018up and coming\u2019 for start-ups are:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Availability of public transport:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is it within close proximity to a train station?<\/li>\n<li>Are there bus services or tram services nearby?<\/li>\n<li>Is the area within proximity to a major arterial\/freeway, etc?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Level of amenity:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is there a good range of shops within proximity (including cafes\/banks\/restaurants, etc)?<\/li>\n<li>Are there any nearby parklands or areas of interest?<\/li>\n<li>Is there adequate onsite or nearby customer car parking?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Other businesses in the precinct:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have any other major retailers or well-known business moved into the area?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Availability of accommodation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How much office and retail space is available on the market (ie. \u2018For Lease\u2019 signs)? Too much available stock may indicate a lack of interest in the area.<\/li>\n<li>What other new stock is planned for the area? If the area is \u2018up and coming\u2019 then there should be signs of other development activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Residential catchment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is there a strong residential presence in the precinct, or is the area too isolated\/removed from local communities?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have looked at premises in an area that has been described as \u2018up and coming\u2019 for businesses.
