{"id":38241,"date":"2023-10-20T14:55:07","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/queensland-founded-startup-safetyculture-closes-30-million-series-b-funding-round-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T14:55:07","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:55:07","slug":"queensland-founded-startup-safetyculture-closes-30-million-series-b-funding-round-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/queensland-founded-startup-safetyculture-closes-30-million-series-b-funding-round-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Queensland-founded startup SafetyCulture closes $30 million series B funding round &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"332\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Scott-Farquhar-and-Luke-Anear-640x332.jpg\" alt=\"scott-farquhar-and-luke-anear\" title=\"scott-farquhar-and-luke-anear\"\/><\/div>\n<p>A Queensland-founded startup has secured $30 million in series B funding, making it one of the largest rounds closed by an Australian tech company this year.<\/p>\n<p>SafetyCulture, which launched iAuditor and more recently Spotlight, has been acquiring a heavy hitting client portfolio that includes major corporations Coca Cola, Hilton and Qantas.<\/p>\n<p>Global venture capital firm Index Ventures led the series B round.<\/p>\n<p>Blackbird ventures and Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar, who led <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/advice\/growth\/safetyculture-ceo-says-informed-investors-more-likely-to-keep-funds-flowing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SafetyCulture\u2019s series A<\/a>, also participated in this round, which takes the total capital raised by the startup to more than $40 million to date.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a feat SafetyCulture founder and CEO Luke Anear never imagined achieving when they started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was two of us working in a garage,\u201d Anear tells <em>StartupSmart.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were just hoping someone would download our app and use it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, SafetyCulture\u2019s iAuditor app enables more than 1 million inspections a month\u00a0and the ongoing growth is expected to skyrocket as Anear uses the new investment to bolster up its product and engineering teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has taken us four years to get to 75 people, we\u2019ll probably go to about 150 people over the next 12 months,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>SafetyCulture operates out of Australia, the US and the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will increase our velocity, it means we can build more things quicker as our customer base keeps growing,&#8221; says Anear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve constantly had to grow and learn.
