{"id":41259,"date":"2023-10-20T15:12:44","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/parcel-delivery-startup-sendle-raises-1-8-million-in-seed-funding-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:12:44","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:12:44","slug":"parcel-delivery-startup-sendle-raises-1-8-million-in-seed-funding-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/parcel-delivery-startup-sendle-raises-1-8-million-in-seed-funding-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Parcel delivery startup Sendle raises $1.8 million in seed funding &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"443\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/l_sendle-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_sendle-600\"><\/div>\n<p>Australian parcel delivery startup Sendle has raised $1.8 million in seed funding in order to expand its customer reach.<\/p>\n<p>The round was led by existing investor NRMA along with high-net individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Sendle launched in November last year and aims to offer a frictionless delivery service for users in comparison to traditional options such as Australia Post through its online booking system.<\/p>\n<p>Co-founder James Moody told <i>StartupSmart<\/i> it was great to see the startup go from just an idea to \u201chaving some good runway\u201d for the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really keen to build up the platform and most importantly build up the support capacity,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be Australia\u2019s most favourite parcel delivery service. It\u2019s currently a chore and we want to turn it into something that\u2019s actually a really enjoyable experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moody says the pickup and delivery market is ripe for disruption, as seen in the flurry of activity in <a href=\"growth\/start-up-profiles\/your-fork-launches-on-demand-grocery-delivery-app\/2015011213921.html\">the on-demand delivery space<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity has come now for startups \u2013 which really tech companies are at heart \u2013 to start to work out ways to remove a lot of friction from that delivery process,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re focused on consumer to consumer delivery or small business to consumer delivery. There is a lot of opportunity at this moment for startups to really think about how we reinvent a lot of the models that have been around for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springing from social enterprise TuShare, Sendle also offsets the emissions generated from its parcel delivery service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo send a package can take upwards of three kilograms of carbon dioxide,\u201d Moody says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that case the amount of carbon dioxide created may weigh as much as the package itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>Do you know more on this story or have a tip of your own?
