{"id":42072,"date":"2023-10-20T15:18:32","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:18:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/mark-zuckerberg-the-next-us-president-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:18:32","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:18:32","slug":"mark-zuckerberg-the-next-us-president-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/mark-zuckerberg-the-next-us-president-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Zuckerberg, the next US president? &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"332\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/facebook-640x332.jpg\" alt=\"Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg\" title=\"facebook\"><\/div>\n<p>Billionaire Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wouldn\u2019t be a ridiculous choice for the President of the United States, some say.<\/p>\n<p>After all, rumoured candidates for the 2020 election include&nbsp;other celebrities, like&nbsp;actor and ex-wrestler Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson, and rap superstar Kanye West.<\/p>\n<p>Speculations about Zuckerberg\u2019s political future have been circulating in US media since Wednesday, when he hired Barack Obama\u2019s ex-campaign manager David Plouffe to be president of policy and advocacy at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, reports <em>Bloomberg.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;Initiative will also be forming an advisory board, lead by George Bush\u2019s 2004 campaign manager Kenneth Mehlman reports the <em>New York Times.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more: Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s one rule for hiring the best employees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chan Zuckerberg initiative&nbsp;is a philanthropic organisation established by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan at the end of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>In an open letter to their daughter Max, the two said they would give 99% of their owned Facebook shares accumulated during their lives to \u201cadvance human potential and promote equality for all children in the next generation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Plouffe\u2019s addition to Zuckerberg\u2019s staff isn\u2019t the only move&nbsp;the tech billionaire has recently made that have prompted speculation about politics.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on his Facebook profile, Zuckerberg took on the \u201cpersonal challenge\u201d to visit and meet people in every state of America over 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a tumultuous last year, my hope for this challenge is to get out and talk to more people about how they\u2019re living, working and thinking about the future,\u201d Zuckerberg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy work is about connecting the world and giving everyone a voice.
