{"id":42151,"date":"2023-10-20T15:19:07","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/canva-rolls-out-ambitious-international-growth-strategy-after-cracking-10-million-users-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:19:07","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:19:07","slug":"canva-rolls-out-ambitious-international-growth-strategy-after-cracking-10-million-users-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/canva-rolls-out-ambitious-international-growth-strategy-after-cracking-10-million-users-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Canva rolls out ambitious international growth strategy after cracking 10 million users &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"332\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Canva-founders-640x332.jpg\" alt=\"Canva founders\" title=\"Canva founders\"><\/div>\n<p>Design startup Canva has announced an ambitious growth strategy after hitting 10 million users worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the Australian success story has set its sights even higher by launching its design software in seven new languages.<\/p>\n<p>While Canva was previously available only in English, users whose first language is German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish or Italian can now get help whipping up designs and logos in their mothertongue.<\/p>\n<p>Canva hopes to see a continuation of its impressive growth stats in the wake of the announcement, given English speakers only make up around 30% of all internet users.<\/p>\n<p>The design startup is looking to role out its product in Japanese, Thai, Mandarin, Russian, Ukrainian and several other languages by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Canva co-founder Melanie Perkins told <em>SmartCompany<\/em> she\u2019s always had \u201creally big ambitions\u201d for the business, and making Canva available in most major languages is part of that strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur aspirations have always been to make Canva available to everyone across the globe,\u201d Perkins says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re aiming for 15 to 20 languages this year alone. Yes, it\u2019s very ambitious, but we really want to enable everyone to experience the awesome design platform we\u2019ve created.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perkins says this is why the company is focused on Asian languages beyond Mandarin and Japanese.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone should be able to create great designs regardless of whether they have any design experience \u2026 [and] regardless of what language they speak,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Canva now employs more than 100 people and is in the process of renovating its office in order to house its growing workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Nine million designs are made on Canva each month, equating to \u2013 on average \u2013 three designs per second.<\/p>\n<p>Canva has raised more than $27 million since 2012.<\/p>\n<p><em>This article was first published on SmartCompany.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Follow&nbsp;StartupSmart on&nbsp;Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and SoundCloud.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Design startup Canva has announced an ambitious growth strategy after hitting 10 million users worldwide.
