{"id":42507,"date":"2023-10-20T15:21:42","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/living-fundraisers-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:21:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:21:42","slug":"living-fundraisers-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/living-fundraisers-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Living Fundraisers &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"90\" height=\"110\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/l_lf_cartoon-greyscale.gif\" alt=\"Rachel Taylor\" title=\"Rachel Taylor\"><\/div>\n<p>Taylor and Jageurs met while they were both studying entrepreneurship at Swinburne University, bonding over their concern about the prevalence of unhealthy foods in school fundraisers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They came up with the concept of kits for growing herbs and vegetables, offering schools and other fundraising groups a healthier alternative to sugar-packed products.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They launched the business in 2009 and have grown to six product lines, helping more than 700 schools and groups across Australia raise almost $1 million to support their communities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a time of increasing obesity, environmental degradation and increasing concern about the health of people and the planet, Living Fundraisers has created a solution that directly targets and addresses these concerns,\u201d Taylor says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools, children\u2019s centres and groups are central to communities, and play a significant role in shaping the present and the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy providing these pivotal groups with products that send a healthy, green message and make it easy for them to raise much-needed funds to continue their work, Living Fundraisers works to build a healthier, more sustainable community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Taylor, the most challenging part of starting the business was managing cashflow, but she and Jageurs learnt how to juggle suppliers, stay on top of debtors and watch every dollar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWatching the business grow and thrive has been exhilarating.
