{"id":42704,"date":"2023-10-20T15:23:10","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/state-government-kicks-in-300000-to-boost-queenslands-startup-scene-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:23:10","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:23:10","slug":"state-government-kicks-in-300000-to-boost-queenslands-startup-scene-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/state-government-kicks-in-300000-to-boost-queenslands-startup-scene-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"State government kicks in $300,000 to boost Queensland\u2019s startup scene &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/l_ianwalkerswbne14445.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_ianwalkerswbne14445\"><\/div>\n<p>Queensland\u2019s startup ecosystem will get a $300,000 boost from the Queensland government through a new initiative called Startup Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Through the program, not-for-profit startups that aim to help build and foster the Queensland startup community will be able to apply for funding that will help cover a total of 50% of their total activity costs, up to a maximum of $25,000 per activity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Innovation Minister Ian Walker announced the program at Startup Weekend in Brisbane and says it\u2019s part of the government\u2019s plan to drive innovation and economic growth by supporting and building capability in the state\u2019s startup sector.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a real opportunity for Queensland\u2019s startup sector to grow and play a much larger role in the economy,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouth East Queensland has more than 220 startup companies employing 1900 people and has raised $126 million in funds for new technology ventures since 2009.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQueensland\u2019s startup ecosystem has a solid foundation to build on.
