An Aussie startup using drones to conduct commercial deliveries has been listed alongside 55 \u201cgame-changing\u201d companies creating \u201ctruly innovative technology\u201d.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A new CB Insights report points out that many companies at the moment aren\u2019t really working towards solving real-life problems.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The report quotes venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya, who says not enough startups are truly innovative.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the biggest problem with venture capital right now,\u201d Palihapitiya says.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have replaced \u2018venture\u2019 capital with \u2018product-market fit\u2019 capital.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The report lists over 50 startups that are \u201csolving very important and\/or big problems, or that are building truly innovative technology\u201d in categories including aerospace, robotics and drones, energy and digital health.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Australian drones startup Flirtey is listed as a startup doing \u201cgame-changing\u201d work with commercial drone deliveries in the US.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The company has been making big strides in this area recently and seems to be ahead of the pack. Flirtey recently completed the first Federal Aviation Administration-approved drone delivery<\/a> in Virginia, transporting 24 packages of pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies to a free clinic.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the time, Flirtey co-founder Tom Bass said the future was very bright for the startup.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis is the first step in proving that on-demand drone delivery can revolutionise the way medical care can be delivered to remote communities, and eventually form your local pharmacy to your front door,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis will be a game changer for millions in America.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
