{"id":43016,"date":"2023-10-20T15:25:28","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/hackers-publish-patreon-password-and-donation-data-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:25:28","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:25:28","slug":"hackers-publish-patreon-password-and-donation-data-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/hackers-publish-patreon-password-and-donation-data-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Hackers publish Patreon password and donation data &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"443\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/l_hacking-445.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_hacking-445\"><\/div>\n<p>Almost 15 gigabytes of password data, donation records and source code from artist and entertainer crowdfunding platform Patreon was published online after the site was hacked last week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Ars Technica the data has been examined by security researcher Troy Hunt who concluded the files \u201calmost certainly\u201d came from Patreon servers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Patreon co-founder and CEO Jack Conte confirmed that there was \u201cunauthorized access\u201d to registered names, email addresses, posts, shipping addresses, and some billing addresses that were added prior to 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Patreon does not store full credit card numbers and while password data, social security numbers and tax information were accessed, they remain \u201csafely encrypted\u201d.
