{"id":44874,"date":"2023-10-20T15:39:16","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/diversity-in-stem-champion-pip-marlow-leaves-microsoft-after-21-years-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:39:16","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:39:16","slug":"diversity-in-stem-champion-pip-marlow-leaves-microsoft-after-21-years-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/diversity-in-stem-champion-pip-marlow-leaves-microsoft-after-21-years-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Diversity in STEM champion Pip Marlow leaves Microsoft after 21 years\u00a0 &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"332\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Pip-Marlow-Microsoft-former-MD-for-AN-640x332.jpg\" alt=\"Pip Marlow Microsoft former MD for Australia\" title=\"Pip Marlow Microsoft former MD for AN\"><\/div>\n<p>After 21 years with Microsoft, including as Australian managing director since 2011, Pip Marlow will soon depart the tech giant to join Suncorp as CEO of strategic innovation.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The move will see Marlow transition out of the business by the end of January, with Steven Worrall named the new local boss of Microsoft, as of 1 January 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">It also means one less woman at the helm of a tech company, and follows Maile Carnegie<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s departure from Google Australia to ANZ earlier this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Microsoft<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s Corporate VP of Asia Ralph Haupter said the fact they were able to choose a leader from without their ranks,<\/span> <span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">speaks to the strength of Pip<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s leadership<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201d<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Pip has been an exceptional leader for Microsoft Australia and will be greatly missed,<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201d<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">&nbsp;he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Her strong leadership, passion and determination to continually improve Microsoft for our customers, partners, employees and the wider community has been truly inspirational.
