{"id":45672,"date":"2023-10-20T15:45:29","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:45:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/startupsmart.test\/2023\/10\/20\/netflix-gives-the-flick-to-big-flicks-but-still-good-for-aussie-bay-watchers-startupsmart\/"},"modified":"2023-10-20T15:45:29","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T15:45:29","slug":"netflix-gives-the-flick-to-big-flicks-but-still-good-for-aussie-bay-watchers-startupsmart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.startupsmart.com.au\/uncategorized\/netflix-gives-the-flick-to-big-flicks-but-still-good-for-aussie-bay-watchers-startupsmart\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix gives the flick to big flicks but still good for Aussie Bay watchers &#8211; StartupSmart"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"440\" height=\"352\" itemprop=\"image\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/l_netflix-living-room-600.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"l_netflix-living-room-600\"><\/div>\n<p>Aussie Netflix users and Michael Bay fans will be breathing a big sigh of relief with the news, that unlike those unfortunate enough to live in the US and Canada, they will still be able to watch the latest Transformers movie on the video streaming service after September.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Netflix announced over the weekend that a whole host of big Hollywood movies would become unavailable in some markets as the on-demand video giant turns its attention towards exclusivity and original films.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a result of Netflix not renewing a distribution deal with Epix, movies like the <i>Hunger Games: Catching Fire<\/i> and <i>World War Z<\/i> will no long be available on the platform in the US and Canada come September, as <i>Re\/Code<\/i> reports.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also lost to cinema-lovers will be <i>Transformers: Age of Extinction<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s another move in Netflix\u2019s increasing push to focus on content it can stream exclusively, and its own line of original productions that will begin rolling out soon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos says the deal just wasn\u2019t working anymore.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve enjoyed a five-year partnership with Epix, but our strategic paths are no longer aligned,\u201d Sarandos says.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile many of these movies are popular, they are also widely available on cable and other subscription platforms at the same time as they are on Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus has shifted to provide great movies and TV series for our members that are exclusive to Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Raising your<\/i> <a href=\"startupschool\/events\/hacking-your-first-investment-round\/\"><i>first round of capital<\/i><\/a><i>?
