It certainly wouldn\u2019t have won gold in the Olympic diving competition. In fact, it was more of a bellywhacker.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Still, conquering that imposing, giant diving board remains quite the achievement for kids who grow up in the area. One that usually isn\u2019t possible without building some familiarity through those smaller dives first.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now, let\u2019s fast forward a couple of years (by \u201ccouple\u201d I really mean \u201cmany\u201d and by \u201cyears\u201d I really mean \u201cdecades\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here you are, about to dive into starting your own business. On this big diving board, there are many rungs of funding you need to prepare to climb. It looks scary, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, instead of taking a big leap of faith and diving in head first, why not try a smaller springboard first?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For example, have you ever placed a pledge through a crowdfunding site such as Kickstarter? Are you familiar with how it works and what the process for placing a pledge is?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If your answer is no, then it\u2019s worthwhile logging on to a crowdfunding site, having a look at some of the projects, and maybe kicking in a small microdonation \u2013 even if it\u2019s just $10 or $20.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That way, when it comes time to find funding for your own projects, you\u2019ll already have some familiarity with how the process works from the other end.
