Starting Change podcast episode three: Tips for crowdfunding success from the founders of Pozible and Chuffed – StartupSmart

A Melbourne crowdfunding platform for social cause projects has raised more than $1 million in seed funding after incorporating a new legal structure into its business model. “What we’re trying to do is transform how fundraising gets done from being annoying people on the street to an engaging experience that people actually want to be part of,” says Chuffed CEO Prashan Paramanathan. Since launching in 2013, Chuffed has raised more than $7 million in donations for social projects on its platform.

Crowdfunding is a multibillion-dollar industry that’s changing the game for social entrepreneurs and the charity sector.

In this episode of the Starting Change podcast, we sit down with the creators of some of the biggest and most exciting crowdfunding platforms to come out of Australia.

Rick Chen co-founded Pozible, a platform that is used in more than 100 countries around the world, and has one of the highest success rates of any crowdfunding platform on the market.

“Social enterprises, in the past two years, use us a lot more than before,” he says.

He provides insights into what the best campaigns do, and where the future of crowdfunding is headed.

With a background in the non-profit sector, Chuffed CEO and founder Prashan Paramanathan built his platform to give charitable ventures and social enterprises a new way to connect and inspire people to drive impact.

“If you gave [people] an inspiring way of interacting with all these organisations out there in a more direct, connected way, they would actually come to the party,” Paramanathan says.
